We all know the NDIS Portal is a moving feast. It seems like every day a new software update is required or Service Providers are now having to comply with a new reporting process which no longer works on their existing CRM or ERP.
This is where ANDSA can assist. Our consultants work closely with the NDIA, NDIS Case Managers, Service Providers, Disability Advocates and Clients and we keep a careful watch on what is happening day-by-day in Australia’s disability sector.
We work closely with IT System Developers providing strategic advice on how to leverage their product development and ensure their R&D pipeline captures the evolving system requirements that will have future impact on NDIS Service Providers.
ANDSA says it is only a matter of time before the Quality Safeguards Commission requires all disability service providers and IT companies to undergo mandatory compliance audits on their back-office information systems in the same way Verification & Certification audits are conducted.
“Presently, these information systems used by service providers to manage their rosters, payroll, client services, incident management reporting, billing, HR, medical records, etc, are not audited against the NDIS Practice Guidelines”, according to Mr Nicholls, Principal Consultant with ANDSA.
“These information systems are the backbone for every disability care provider because they manage the critical services for NDIS clients every moment of every day. If these systems are not up to a suitable ISO Management standard, it’s like a domino effect and impacts the quality of services provided”.
Mr Nicholls says ANDSA is ideally positioned to help both service providers and software companies ensure their services and systems are ISO compliance-ready by adopting a proactive position.
“We strongly encourage our clients to not wait until they are forced into an audit because of a system failure which usually has widespread adverse ramifications. The old saying ‘An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure’ is certainly relevant here”.
ANDSA recently conducted an extensive review of Australia’s Client Relationship Management (CRM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software solutions being used by NDIS care providers in the disability sector today. ANDSA’s Managing Director, Chris Nicholls, says the 7-month review of the top 30 products on the market today raised some interesting and concerning outcomes particularly given what some software companies were claiming their software could do and what their software actually delivered. “Unfortunately, we found a disturbing trend where many disability service providers were making decisions about software solutions that looked great on glossy brochures and in presentations but ended up costing tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars after the sale due to unforeseen customisation costs to meet their particular operational needs.” Mr Nicholls said it was critical for providers to undertake an in-depth analysis of each software contender’s solution before a commitment was entered into and for the service providers to witness, first-hand, the software working well elsewhere. This is where ANDSA can help by providing a fresh pair of independent “eyes” across the many options with the confidence that our consultants bring from years of experience in the disability care sector.

A necessity that ANDSA excels in is the service of management consulting specifically in the care provider sector. Australia’s not-for-profit disability leadership is at a critical crossroad today. With the introduction of the Federal Government’s National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), many disability service providers still find themselves overwhelmed in handling the rigorous demands of managing complex information system requirements. ANDSA can provide specialist services working alongside your Executive Team, providing them with the necessary experience to comply with the NDIS whilst reinvigorating your Management Team with a fresh perspective to grow and motivate the organisation in a sustainable manner.
We will come meet with you on-site at your business and provide some initial consultation around our process, what’s involved, and what outcomes we deliver.
